I'm a loser!

Drum role please......I didn't work out today. I know I know, I was all set to do it (well maybe not mentally). The problem is that I'm not terribly unhappy with my body at this point, so I'm having a hard time committing to a 90 day intense regimen. I did however have a great clean eating day, so I'm happy about that, because for me, the eating is more difficult than the working out. I put the video in early this morning and when I saw the first video is 53 minutes long, I just didn't have time to do the whole thing, so then I thought I would do it this afternoon after work, but I have a huge headache and no desire to workout whatsoever.....

I'm still undecided as to whether I will combine all my great Beachbody videos, or stick to one program like P90x.

What to do what to do....

OH, and guess what I just discovered....my beloved Steamfresh veggies...well they have a delicious Asian medley that is "specially seasoned"....so I look at the ingredients and nutritional info just for fun and guess what goodie it has in it...
wait for it............partially hydrogenated soybean oil........aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh. That's Trans fat people....in my steamed veggies. I'm so irritated!!

Tomorrow I'm serious!

So after my expected 1+ month hiatus from working out and eating right, I'm planning on getting back on track tomorrow. I will be doing P90x for 90 days to see what this body can accomplish. Really it just depends on how dedicated I can be, and how clean I can keep my diet, which is where my real struggle is.
So, I need to double check the P90x program, but I'm pretty sure it's 6 days of working out, which will be good because I plan on having 6 clean eating days followed by a free day.

I know of some other people who are starting up fresh tomorrow too, but if there is anyone else out there that needs some accountability and support in their weight loss endeavors, please let me know. I think having a support system is crucial when trying to lose weight or develop healthier eating and exercising habits.

At the beach...with SNOW

We're currently on our 4th annual Oregon coast trip with my in-laws and sister-in-law. We always stay at a house at Bella beach. We've loved every house we've stayed in.
We woke up this morning to SNOW!!!! Yesterday when we arrived it was 51 degrees and partly cloudy..pretty nice for the Oregon coast. Now we have snow that is sticking. Uh, weird!!! The fire is going and the view from the couch is lovely!!

I'm just hoping this doesn't effect my plans to go shopping at the outlet mall!!

Easter

Have you ever been given a gift you didn't deserve in any way, shape, or form? Today, as we celebrate Easter, I am reminded that I was given a gift. Actually, everyone has been given this gift, but there are those who choose not to accept it. The gift is that of eternal salvation, of redemption, forgiveness, and hope. Today, I thank my Lord and Savior for dying on the cross for my sins, and for rising again so that I could be saved. What an amazing gift!!

HE IS RISEN!!

Birthday fun

Yesterday was Maree's 4th birthday. We had a wonderful day! I had found "Ms. Annie" who has a wonderful tea room where she hosts parties for all ages, and will also come to your house to hostess parties. Ms. Annie came to our house about 15 minutes before the party to drop off tons of dress-up supplies for the little girls...and I mean tons! She also dropped off her puppet show and entertaining supplies. Then the girls (who have been hidden away as to not see where all this stuff came from) get to dress up in all kinds of princess paraphernalia. Then, there is a knock at the door, so I go get Maree to answer the door, and low and behold, there stands Snow White!! The girls just stared. Snow White asks if she has found Maree's party, and asks if she can come in and play. She comes in and takes out a parachute for all the girls to sit on, and performs a puppet show. She did a wonderful job, and the girls giggled and giggled...and soon my son peaked his head around the corner and his eyes got huge, and he started to smile (he didn't know Snow White had come to our house). The puppet show continues and Aaron gets closer and closer to the action, and pretty soon he is giggling louder than the little girls.
Then they all got their faces painted by Snow White...not your ordinary face painting!

I could tell that Aaron SO badly wanted his face painted but was too bashful to ask...he eventually gave in...

Then they had a fashion "parade".
It was just so fun. Fun for the girls, and fun for the me too. It was such a delight to see all the girls giggling and having such a good time. I think I'd like to have Ms. Annie for every future birthday party!!!

Before...and after (but not finished)

Here is the before...the mess in prep

Here is the after...old bedding, old curtains etc...still working on all the accessories.

And here is just an added bonus. I forgot about this picture until I uploaded the bedroom pictures. This is something my dear husband dreamed up one day, and has talked about making for some time. All I have to say is "you know you're a redneck when.....

....you design a toilet seat that attaches to your truck's trailer hitch". I'm not quite sure what Aaron is doing there.... "Ahoy Matey"??

I'm still a little bewildered by my husband's imagination.

Instant gratification...or not so much

For the last several months I've had the itch to re-paint my bedroom, and to also get rid of the behemoth of a computer armoire I have, which is just a huge, cheap, eyesore. I work from home and have my "office" in our bedroom, so I spend a LOT of time in there. It was previously painted red (on 1 wall) and tan in a Tuscan inspired (I use that reference lightly), as I am SO not good at decorating!! When I first painted I still had mismatched furniture...hand-me-downs and such, so painting was my only way of sprucing up the room. A little over a year ago we bought a whole new bedroom set, which I just love, yet the room was still the same...the curtains were never quite right, the computer armoire was still ugly, and the bedding...well I just couldn't find the right one. So ANYWAY, this weekend I finally decided what I wanted to do, and decided it was time to do it. My poor husband actually said that he would rather have a root canal with no anesthetic than to have to paint, so you can imagine his joy at my stating I wanted to re-paint our room. I'm sure he was trying to figure out a way to be conveniently called to work during his wife's crazy painting whim. When I decide I want to do something, I want to do it NOW..as in yesterday. I am very determined. Saturday Steve was just not going for the painting idea, and since it was such a beautiful day outside, we just relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine. Then Sunday rolled around, and we were planning out the day, and he mentioned wanting to do some paper mache with the kids, but he needed some glue...so I say...Hey why don't we go to Home Depot...and then I can also "look" at some paint.
Side note: the Home Depot in Phoenix is just great. The guy (Ron) that helped us with the paint was awesome with the kids...he let them help with every step of the paint mixing/shaking etc.

So we decided on a paint color (so scary), and head home. We cleared out all the clutter in our room, and started prepping. Then started putting primer on the one red wall. Ron at Home Depot had mentioned that he put twice our paint color in the primer....not sure why...maybe to help with covering the red wall. Anyway, so the primer starts going up...and I really like the color...and am then starting to worry that the actual paint color (which will be twice as light) will be too light. Long story short...I stare at both colors on the wall from every angle...call a good friend who is a genius at home decorating, and ask if she can come over to give an opinion. She and hubby come over (both with good decorating sense), and stare at all angels at both colors ......while Steve diligently continues to paint. Steve liked the lighter paint color...so he says, although I think he would have said anything as to avoid any additional painting. So we watch and compare...him and hah. I think if Steve had stopped painting then I would have had him go down to Home Depot and had the paint colored darkened...but he just kept painting......and painting. So pretty soon our friends leave, and I just feel bad, so I continue to paint as well. Then, guess what I start to really like the paint color. And now the whole room is done and I LOVE it. So yeah!

So, along with the new paint color, I had decided I definitely needed new bedding. I hardly ever make our bed (sad I know...bad and sad)..because our bedding is just so pathetic. The cat sleeps at the end of the bed, and the bedspread has shrunk after repeated washing...and the the cat has snagged it...so it's just not pretty...so why make the bed (that's my philosophy at least...and maybe I'm just lazy). So I found this great bedding on Kohls.com that I just loved. It is black and white..which is the look I was going for, but not too busy to cause a headache. However, Kohls.com didn't have a queen available...but when I did a goo*gle search for the bed set, it popped up on Ebay......perfect I thought!! So I watched the bedding set for 4 days...didn't bid on it, because I thought I would bid at the very last minute and get a good deal on it. So the day the auction is set to end, is the same day we are finishing up the painting...and also taking the behemoth of a computer armoire out of the room....while also disconnecting the computer. So we set the kitchen timer to 5 minutes before the auction is set to end...perfect amount of time to swoop in there and win the auction without the other people being able to out bid you. Ya, well, that would have been a perfect plan, had we not closed our bedroom door with the music on, and furiously painted in order to get it done before 10pm. I suddenly realize that it was about time for the auction to end...and go into panic mode, seeing that the kitchen timer has already gone off (without us hearing it)...the my laptop won't connect to the computer (because my computer is totally disconnected), and so I call my sister frantically, seeing if she can get online and see if the auction is over. It was. Booo hoooooo!!!!! I was so mad at myself. The bedding sold for the same price it was at when I had first started looking at it...so cheap! I should have just bid on it. Lesson learned! You cannot find the bedding ANYWHERE! I've called several Kohls stores, and they don't have it, and don't know if it's been discontinued or not. Pooh! The guy at the Kohls customer service said to call back in a MONTH to see if they were getting more stock. Um, hello, do you know who you are talking to.....I'm a woman...I needed it yesterday!!

So, I wait.

There is only one other set I really like, but it is twice as much....

But I really like my paint color :) Whew! Good thing too, because there ain't no way my DH would be helping me RE-paint the bedroom.

Portland Highlights

Our trip to Portland was fast, fun, and exhausting!! It's amazing how the kids can just keep going and going for hours on end, meanwhile I'm ready to take a nap!
We had fun at the zoo, definitely the highlight of the trip. It was a little cold out and rainy off and on, but the kids didn't seem to notice. We also visited Krispy Kreme (don't tell anyone), Trader Joe's, Lego store, Disney store, and a few other places we don't have in Medford, so that was fun.
Maree was attached to the hip of Auntie Deanna, as is customary. She was also very emotional on the drive home saying "I miss my auntie"...with tears running down her cheeks. Poor thing.

Maree just couldn't keep her eyes open any longer on the drive home. She took Aaron's Lego crown and put it over her eyes, and fell asleep....
